Logan & I had an interesting conversation coming home a few days ago. We discussed the proposed cuts to various social programs etc. (mind you he may be 15, but he's an old man at heart)
So, I posed this question to him. Why is it that if our neighbor next door is struggling...we take over lasagna or vegetables from our garden but we are OK with cutting welfare benefits because "those people just work the system anyway".
We are very ego-centric creatures. If it immediately affects us...if we can reach out and "touch it"...see the need in our family, church, friends, and children we become a veritable "force to be reckoned with", defensive, frothy-mouthed self righteous warrior.
Just a thought.
P.S.
